Best known as a genious arranger & composer, Michel Colombier has collaborated with several internationally renowned artists including french choreographer Maurice Béjart (Messe Pour Le Temps Present), Serge Gainsbourg, the Beach Boys (Sunflower), Supertramp (Even In The Quietest Moments), Prince (Purple Rain) or Air (Walkie Talkie). He was also in charge of numerous soundtracks from iconic films (Le Pacha, Purple Rain, Sorcerer), background music for television and radio. He released only three solo albums including his masterpiece the great symphonic pop musical "Wings" in 1971. According to the own words of its author, "Capot Pointu" was recorded for fun including symphonic pop with strings arrangements, some experimental music and catchy melodies served by nice funny chorus. Titles include two songs written by Serge Gainsbourg ("Turlututu Capot Pointu", "La Robe de Papier") or songs based on various call signs composed for french radio shows ("Lobellia", "The Big Team"). Lalo Schifrin - Music From Mission: Impossible

Lalo Schifrin is an argentine pianist, jazz composer and arranger who started as professional in France, recording several latin jazz records for Eddie Barclay's label Vogue. In the fifties, he's evolved in some of the finest Dizzie Gillepsie's formations, played with Duke Ellington and his countryfellow, saxophonist Gato Barbieri. In the sixties, he was recruited as arranger by Verve, collaborating to various songs arrangements for Stan Getz, Count Basie, Sarah Vaughan or Jimmy Smith, among others. Lalo is best known as composer of numerous iconic soundtracks for films and television series which will made his fame : Mannix, the Dirty Harry's franchise, Bullitt, Enter The Dragon or Starsky & Hutch. The Lalo's sound is recognizable among all for his jazzy action themes whose the famous Mission Impossible's opening. "Mission impossible" is probably the best TV serie soundscape ever recorded, the sound of a jazzmen generation influenced by the psychedelic rock revolution, where features Mike Melvoin (piano), Bill Plummer (sitar), Bud Shank (saxophone, flute) and Stu Williamson (trumpet). Titles include the iconic opening theme and in particular "The Sniper" with pyschedelic dialogue between the Lalo's harpsichord and Bill Plummer's sitar (both associated with tribal percussions) and best theme of the serie "Jim On The Move" to the catchy latin beat.

Maestro Piero Piccioni was an italian pianist, conductor & composer, in charge of over 300 movie soundtracks, influenced by iconic film directors among Frank Capra, Alfred Hitchcock, Billy Wilder or John Ford. He worked for the masters of italian cinema during the golden years of Cinecittà including Michelangelo Antonioni, Francesco Rosi, Luchino Visconti, Bernardo Bertolucci, Roberto Rossellini, Dino Risi. Piccioni’s first score for a feature film was Gianni Franciolini’s "Il Mondo Le Condanna" in 1952, but his most famous work were for the movies “Swept Away” (1975), “Salvatore Giuliano” by Francesco Rosi (1963) and "Lo Staniero" by Visconti (1967). He worked also on italian variation of "Le Mépris" soundtrack (original music by Georges Delerue) and OSS 117. "Musica-Amore" brings together several movie themes and others jazz soundscapes composed for various italian films recorded between late sixties and early seventies, including two songs "Right Or Wrong" & "Once And Again" featuring his regular vocalist Lyn McDonald aka Shawn Robinson.

I Marc 4 ‎- Nelson Psychout

The Vampi Soul's compilation of "original library music from the vaults of Nelson Records", an italian music library label actives during the seventies and primarily issuing records from I Marc 4, one of the most famous italian studio session group. I Marc 4 is a jazz quartet formed by Maurizio Majorana (eb), Antonello Vannucci (p, org), Roberto Podio (ds) and Carlo Pes (eg) whose the name comes from the initials of the four members. Maurizio Majorana & Roberto Podio, both from the Modern Jazz Gang, have played with Lionel Hampton, and Carlo Pes with Barney Kessel. I Marc 4 also played for famous Italian international composers such as Ennio Morricone or Piero Umiliani and recorded most of the Armando Travaioli's compositions. All tracks recorded between 1970-1976, extracted from Nelson GLP catalogue including serie 1000 (1001 to 1007 & 1010), compiled by Alessandro Casella.

Kanashimi No Belladonna (Belladonna Of Sadness) is the final act in the Animerama trilogy, a kind of "pink" film serie conceived by Osamu Tezuka which includes Senya Ichiya Monogatari (A Thousand And One Nights - 1969) & Kureopatora (Cleopatra - 1970). Produced by the Japanese animation studio Mushi Production, directed by Eiichi Yamamoto, Belladona is based on the book "La Sorcière" (The Witch), a story written in 1862 by French historian Jules Michelet. The music was entirely composed by the most-avant garde japanese jazz pianist, Masahiko Sato, recorded at Aoi studio in 1972 with probably a part of Toshiyuki Miyama's New Herd ensemble, featuring his wife Chinatsu Nakayama on vocals. Only one EP was released in Japan in 1973 (including singles "Kanashimi No Belladonna" & "Jeanne No Namida", performed by japanese songtress, Mayumi Tachibana), but two years later, the soundtrack finally comes in Europe thanks to Italian label Cinevox, and now reissued by Finders Keepers Records. Sato created for Belladona, an atmosphere of certain deep melancholy, a free jazz/progressive rock score in the same wayof his "Amalgamation" 1971 project mixing psychedelic jazz with orchestral music incorporating experimental sounds, suspense & action music elements. Titles includes all Sato's compositions for the film, except "Belladonna (Reprise)", "Jeanne No Namida" & the main love theme written by Asei Kobayashi and sung by Mayumi Tachibana.

"The Fine Machine" is formed by three italian composers/arrangers, pianist Giacomo Dell'Orso aka Oscar Lindok, Nico Fidenco (Donimak), and Gianni Dell'Orso (Proluton)."Habitat" is a crossover record including progressive rock, jazz & funk including psychedelic elements ("Obsessing Promenade", "Hand Shake" or "Crazy Eel"), latin beats ("Racing Beat", the bossa "Snobbery"), and oriental expressions on "The Eastern Question". Giovanni Tommaso is an italian studio bass player, Jazz composer & arranger, who professionaly started in 1957. During the seventies, he was prolific in music library, collaborating to the Sandro Brugnolini & Stefano Torrossi productions and composing several background music for films and TV soundscapes. Giovanni Tommaso also played for various prestigious Jazz Masters such as Chet Baker, Dexter Gordon, Art Farmer or also Sonny Rollins for the Studio Uno show, broadcasted on RAI TV from 1961 to 1966. This rare iconic Italian library file from 1972 (finally reissued by SONOR), was entirely composed by Giovanni Tommaso for an italian documentary focused on the capital city of Japan, where it features uncredited musicians among pianist Antonello Vannucchi, drummer Gegè Munari & guitarist Silvano Chimenti. It includes some typical elements of folk music from Far East, mixed with psychedelic accents and played in the Jazz Rock style. It foreshadows the future sound of the Italian Progressive/Jazz Rock group '70, Perigeo, whose Giovanni was a main member.

Composed as a soundtrack, arranged & performed by the pianist Keitaro Miho, "Sound Poesy" is a tribute dedicated to a young japanese racer, Sachio Fujisawa who died in a test run, the same year. The first side is entirely devoted to the race's story of Sachio including dialogues inserts, racing sounds & noises cars (Start Your Engine), which contribute to create a Grand-Prix's atmosphere (all tracks of this side are composed by Keitaro Miho). The other side includes female scat singing, classics of the Bossa Nova from Antonio Carlos Jobim (One Note Samba & Meditation), Jorge Ben (Mas Que Nada), Pop cover songs (Goin' Out Of My Head, I Wanna Be Around) & the original composition, "Remember Of Paris". Alessandro Brugnolini is an italian composer and alto sax player, best known as former member of super italian jazz group, the Modern Jazz Gang active from 1956 to 1965. He was the leading composer & arranger for the band, whose the most significant albums among others "Miles Before And After" (1960) and the original soundtrack from "Gli Arcangeli" (1962) featuring  american Jazz vocalist Helen Merrill. In 1958, Sandro gains audience winning the prize of best original piece at National Jazz Festival for his composition "Arpo" recorded with the Modern Jazz Gang. With Stefano Torossi , he collaborated to several projects including the famous "Feelings" released in 1974, although he was uncredited. Sandro was also in charge of various background music for TV programs and original film scores such as "Musica Per Comment Sonori" (1969), "Fantabulous, Inc." (1967), "Gungala La Pantera Nuda" (1968) or "L'Uomo Dagli Occhiali A Specchio" (1975). "Overground" was composed with the contribution of Luigi Malatesta featuring the Rai TV session musicians (guitarists Silvano Chimenti & Angelo Baroncini, bassist Giovanni Tommaso, drummer Enzo Restuccia and organist Giorgio Carnini). Sweet lounge music recorded in 2002 by an obscure japanese keyboarder/conductor & his group featuring scat singing performances by Minako Kasahara (former member of Reggae Disco Rockers) & Mayumi Chida. In 2006, with the same formation, Yuzo Hayashi was in charge of the soundscape for the josei animated serie, "Honey & Clover", and recorded a tribute to the italian actress, Monica Vitti (Memory Of Monica Vitti) in the same line. "Life As A Cinema" is somehow the reminiscent of the classics Italian soundtracks, reminding the famous reissues & compilations from the italian Music library label, "Easy Tempo" (Piero Umiliani or Stefano Torossi), but also the Konishi Yasuharu productions with his Pizzicato Five group. "Life As A Cinema" attemps to recreate a vintage & erotic atmosphere from the glorious days of the french/italian riviera from the mid-sixties including Bossa Nova (Kaigantōri To Hanauri, Erotica Mibōjin), french Pop (Sasowarete 63) & Acid Jazz (Kyū Shigai No Zawameki). All tracks composed & arranged by Yuzo Hayashi.

Samurai Champloo Music Record by Be Hard Bop ~ The Sons Of A Battlecry

"Samurai Champloo" is one of the best japanese animated serie broadcast in the 2000s on TV screens, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe (also director of famous "Cowboy Bebop" serie), produced by the Studio Manglobe for FUJI TV in 2004. In order to create the perfect soundscape, the studio recruited some of the finest japanese producers & beatmakers featuring Nujabes, the electronic duo "FORCE OF NATURE" (KZA & DJ Kent), Tsutchie (former member of Shakkazombie) and Fat Jon from the american Hip-Hop band "Five Deez" including japanese rappers Shing02 (in charge of the opening), Suiken & S-Word from Nitro Microphone Underground and Azuma Riki from Small Circle Of Friends. Original Soundtrack from the japanese iconic action movie "Hakuchu No Shugeki" produced by TOHO. Released in 1970, the movie was directed by an aficionado of Jazz, Kiyoshi Nishimura and starring Toshio Kurosawa in the main role. Originally released in 1969, the single "Snake Hip" was edited by Nippon Columbia on 45rpm with "Hakuchu No Shugeki - Theme" on side b, but the full music files of the original score had never been edited. Disk Union store's own label released the complete soundtrack for the Ciné Jazz serie in 2011. The music was performed by the legendary Terumasa Hino Quintet featuring Takeru Muraoka, Hiromasa Suzuki, Kunimitsu Inaba & Motohiko Hino. Titles include "Snake Hip" in the original extented version under "On The Corner" name, "Supermarket" (original recording in short version of "Hakuchu No Shugeki - Theme"), and the long modal piece "Getaway". Mad Police '80 (Daigekito Mad Police) was a police drama serie ranked in the hard boiled genre, produced by the TOEI Company, and composed of 26 episodes, originally  broadcasted on NTV from april to september 1980. Recorded in 1979, the soundtrack is among the best work of Yuji Ohno, one more time surrounded by his Jazz Funk-Disco band "You & The Explosion Band" featuring jazz guitarist Kiyoshi Sugimoto, Tsunehide Matsuki, Michio Nagaoka, Yasushi Ichihara, all supported by full string orchestra. Titles include over thirty tracks offered in several variations, the opening (Theme From "Daigekito") &the  ending theme ("How Can You Love The City" featuring Noboru Kimura).
