Jimmy Takeuchi - R&B Drumming

Professional drummer since 1948, Jimmy Takeuchi started in Nobuo Hara' Sharps & Flats. In the late 1950s, he played in a big band combo "Three Big Drummer" with George Kawaguchi & Hideo Shiraki. In the late sixties, joined the Kazuo Yashiro Trio, played with saxophonist Hidehiko Matsumoto and, in 1970, he was recruited by  Teddy Wilson. He also has played with Shoji Suzuki, Sadao Watanabe or Yuzuru Sera. An album of great cover songs, mixing Jazz Rock with Funk/Soul and  Rhythm&Blues standards from Stax or Atlantic recordings including titles as Otis Redding' The Dock Of The Bay, Supremes' Love Child, James Brown' I Got The Feelin' or Soulful Strut performed by Young-Holt Unlimited.

Shunzo Ohno - Quater Moon

Shunzo Ohno is japanese trumpeter, a versatile musician who has played, recorded and toured with such renowned leaders as Gil Evans, Herbie Hancock or Wayne Shorter. In the late sixties, at the age of 19 years old, Shunzo was enrolled by drummer Takeshi Inomata in his new Jazz Rock band, The Sound Limited. Later, in the early seventies, Shunzo played in various groups as the Soul Media of saxophonist Jiro Inagaki, was sideman for drummer George Otsuka, and formed in 1972, his first jazz quartet featuring pianist Mikio Masuda, in order to record his debut album as a leader, Falter Out, released in 1973. Settled in New York since 1974, after a tour throughout the US with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, he regularly recruits, subsequently, american musicians such as Roy Haynes or bassist Reggie Lucas, and toured with the Machito & his Afro Cuban Orchestra. Shunzo recorded his first US leader album "Something's Comming" in 1975, but becomes internationally renowned from the Jazz Funk album "Bubbles" in 1976. Quater Moon was recorded at the famous Electric Lady studio in New York, under Electric Bird japanese label, with various american musicians including Marcus Miller, Carter Jefferson, Kenny Kirkland & Onaje Allan Gumbs. Titles include only compositions arranged by Shunzo Ohno.
