Debut album of S.O.U.L. (for Sounds Of Unity And Love), a Soul/Jazz Funk band from Cleveland, formed by frontman Lee Lovett (eb), Gus Hawkins (eg), Paul Stubblefield (ds) and Walter Winston (fl, sax). Titles include famous Funk/Soul covers composed by Charles Wright (Express Yourself), Smokey Robinson (Get Ready) and Herbie Mann (Memphis Underground), the medley "Message From A Black Man" (with the verse of "Stand!" by Sly & The Family Stone), their original single composition "Down In The Ghetto" (Parts I & II) and "Burning Spear" which was selected in various compilations and sampled many times by Hip-Hop artists like on "Go With The Flow" (1991) by Pete Rock & CL Smooth.
