Toshiyuki Honda is a jazz saxophonist, best known as composer & arranger of several japanese animated movies soundtrack (Metropolis directed by Rin Taro in 2001 or Nasu : Summer in Andalusia in 2003). He started his professional career, as a leader, in the middle of the seventies, recorded as Toshiyuki Honda & The Burning Waves notables albums for the Electric Bird Label whose Burnin' Wave is the first : Opa! Com Deus (1979), Easy Breathing (1980), Boomrang Year and Spanish Tears (1981). He also played for bassist Isao Suzuki on Mongolian Chant (1980) and enrolled Chick Corea, Miroslav Vitous & Roy Haynes for Dream (1984). Titles include various styles from Jazz Funk (Burnin' Waves & Thunder Kiss), Afro Cuban (Havana Candy feat. Pauline Wilson) to Samba Funk (São Paulo & 747 Wind Flight). All tracks arranged & conducted by Chikara Ueda.
