A Groovy Situation is the fourth Wilson' album for Blue Note. A mixture of R&B (as Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours) and pop covers (as Happy Together) in pure Soul Jazz style. A kind of entertaining jazz record with soul grooves provided by the Hammond B3 organ, jazzy tunes and two original compositions by Reuben Wilson. Produced & recorded by Rudy Van Gelder.

Jiro Inagaki + Soul Big Media - Jazz & Rock "Out"

Rare Psychedelic Jazz-Rock LP recorded live at Hibiya Amphitheater performed by 'The Soul Media' quintet and led by Jiro Inagaki. The line-up is the same as on Head Rock  but supported by a Big Band special featuring Tadayuki Harada, Shigeo Suzuki, Shunzo Ohno and Takashi Imai. Titles include Inagaki's classic tune The Ground For Peace, an alternative version of Head Rock (Yie-Pie), Freedom Jazz Dance by Eddie Harris (popularized by Miles Davis on Miles Smiles released in 1966), the traditionnal Negro Spiritual Oh ! Happy Day, Spinning Wheel and the Soul cover from Talma Motown, You've Made Me So Very Happy.

Jean Musy, His Organ And His Orchestra - Tribute To Ray Charles

Rare french jazz LP recorded under Concert Hall label by pianist, arranger & composer, Jean Musy featuring the renowned Hammond B3 organ, brass band & string orchestra. Jean Musy was best known for the arrangements and orchestrations of the famous song "Champs Elysées" recorded in 1969 by Joe Dassin. He composed for many french "variété" artists such as, of course, the singer Joe Dassin or violonist Catherine Lara, evolved in the band of Nino Ferrer during the sixties, and collaborated to over 200 movies soundtracks.  Titles include some of  most popular Ray Charles tunes that contributed to his success (I've Got A Woman, Unchain My Heart, Georgia...), all played and arranged in the pure Soul Jazz style by Jean Musy himself.

S.O.U.L. (for Sounds Of Unity And Love), is an instrumental Soul & Jazz Funk group from Cleveland, formed by Lee Lovett, Gus Hawkins, Paul Stubblefield and Walter Winston. "What is It" is their first record originally released in 1971 on Musicor. The tracklist consists in famous Soul cover songs of Charles Wright, (Express Yourself), Smokey Robinson (Get Ready), Herbie Mann (Memphis Underground), jam sessions such as "Message From A Black Man" (which includes the hidden track "Stand!" from Sly & The Family Stone), and their original single  Down In The Ghetto Parts I & II. One of the best Funk albums from the early seventies, also known for "Burning Spear" which was included in various compilations and sampled many times by Hip-Hop artists like on Go With The Flow (1991) by Pete Rock & CL Smooth.

Jimmy Takeuchi And His The Exciters - Drum Drum Drum

Jimmy Takeuchi recorded several LPs for the Toshiba recordings series 'DRUM DRUM DRUM', best known for its legendary singular sexy covers. Formed in 1967, The Exciters mixing Jazz with pop/surf music standards including the classic songs from Elvis Presley, The Surfaris, The Beatles, The Ventures or japanese pop covers. This rare LP introduces the serie, includes some killer GS (for Group Sounds) & japanese pop tunes as the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles featuring great drums breakbeats. All tracks performed by Jimmy Takeuchi & His Exciters and arranged by Kunihiko Suzuki.

Jimmy Smith - Root Down (Live!)

Recorded February 8, 1972, in Los Angeles, the most renowned live album of Jimmy Smith including  title track Root Down (And Get It) sampled by the Beastie Boys for Root Down from their III Communication LP released in 1994. He established his reputation of Soul Jazz' Godfather with the Hammond B3 Organ on a performance borrowing from Funk, Rock & Soul. The Jazz Crusaders' Wilton Felder & Arthur Adams participate in this great music moment.

Kenny Burrell - God Bless The Child

The unique album for CTI by american guitarist Kenny Burrell. He was influenced by the most famous jazz guitarists as Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt and Wes Montgomery. He started in the fifties with Oscar Peterson, was sideman for Dizzie Gillepsie, Paul Chambers, Milt Jackson or Jimmy Smith. His line-up features incredible players as Ron Carter, Ray Barretto, Richard Wyands, Hubert Laws, Freddie Hubbard, Billy Cobham plus guests, on Love Is The Answer Airto Moreira (percussion) and Hugh Lawson (piano & electric piano). This magnificent crossover jazz album is served by a string orchestra with the beautiful arrangements and the direction of Don Sebesky. Recorded at studio Rudy Van Gelder and produced by Creed Taylor.

Jimmy Smith - Got My Mojo Workin

Smith' Big Band LP for Verve with Hammond B3 organ, arrangements of Oliver Nelson and a great combo. It features classic from pop music Stevie Wonder hit High Heel Sneakers, Jagger/Richard' Satisfaction, the Muddy Waters' title track and Jazz standards by Billy Strayhorn (Johnny Come Lately) and Ellington' C-Jam Blues. It served by a big band under the direction of Oliver Nelson, featuring a horn section with  Phil Woods (alto saxophone), Jerome Richardson (baritone saxophone), Romeo Penque (tenor saxophone, flute)  and Ernie Royal (trumpet). Recorded at studio Rudy Van Gelder & produced by Creed Taylor.
