Ramsey Lewis - Mother Nature's Son

Year : 1968
Label : Chess/Cadet Records
Genre : Jazz
Style : Jazz Funk, Pop

As the cover album  The Other Side of Abbey Road by George Benson, Ramsey Lewis revisits another great Beatles' act, based on ten songs from their "White Album", supported by strings & conducted by Charles Stepney featuring the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Mother Nature's Son includes jazz improvisations, using experimental electronic effects on the moog synthesizer, pop rhythms & funky accents. Recorded in december 1968, just after the White album release, it's further evidence of the importance of the group in the recording industry. The Beatles in Jazz has known various tributes, inter alia by Helen Merrill, Count Basie, Jun Fukamachi or Sarah Vaughan.  More recently, the Nippon columbia label has edited three compilations (Blue, Red & White) dedicated to The Beatles in cover songs performed by japanese renowned jazz musicians. All tracks arranged by Charles Stepney.
