Under the pseudonym of Mr. Drum & The Sound Machine, hides Takeshi Inomata & Sound Limited, one of the finest japanese Jazz drummer and his famous Jazz Rock band. Huge rare groove which associates Soul & Jazz Rock with some great cover songs from Pop to Soul Music. Big Jullien And His All Star - Riviera Sound No.1

Released first on the french label Riviera then reissued by german label, Sonorama (2009). Ivan Jullien is a french trumpetist and conductor who has composed & arranged over hundreds songs for many french artists like Michel Legrand, Henri salvador, Charles Aznavour, Sacha Distel, Françoise Hardy but also collaborated with great jazzmen as Quincy Jones, Count Basie Orchestra or Dee Dee Bridgewater. In The 60s/70s, he led a big band called Paris Jazz All Stars including some players of this LP. He's surrounded by some of the best french jazz players as Eddy Louiss, Maurice Vander, Michel Colombier, Roger Guérin or Pierre Cullaz. Tracks are composed by Michel colombier and Ivan Jullien except Time Square by Charlie Mingus. Recorded at Studios Barclay, Paris.

Stefano Torossi - Feelings

This Holy Grail & ultra rare italian library record was reissued by various labels as Conroy (1976), Easy Tempo (2000) or more recently on portuguese label Golden Pavilion records (2012). Stefano Torossi is a composer, arranger, conductor in charge of several italian soundtracks and TV Shows. Due to legal restrictions, he signed this album under the Jay Richford & Gary Stevan names (Puccio Roelens & Giancarlo Gazzani) and was associated with Sandro Brugnolini to the composition. Titles include groovy sounds (resulting of deep bass, wah wah guitar & Fender Rhodes), Smooth Jazz (reinforced by the string ensemble) & Funky styles, swimming in a cinematic mood, reminiscent of spy movies or the Blaxploitation themes. All tracks composed, arranged and directed by Stefano Torossi, Sandro Brugnolini, Giancarlo Gazzani & Pucccio Roelens.

One of the most unforgettable japanese rare groove masterpiece released under the New Stream In Jazz catalogue For Nippon Columbia Takt Jazz Series. Recorded at the Yamaha Hall in Ginza, Hi-Nology is performed by the greatest japanese trumpeter & his fabulous first quintet featuring Takeru Muraoka, Kunimitsu Inaba, Hiromasa Suzuki plus his brother Motohiko. Hi-Nology is without a doubt, the expression of a Terumasa Hino at the top of his play, inspired by the Miles Davis' work (which is never too far), who indeed, during the same year recorded In A Silent Way, which will launch the electrification in Jazz, and therefore, opening the fusion period. Titles include the Davis' tribute, Like Miles, the Free Jazz of Electric Zoo, Hi-Nology and the Avant Garde Dupe, all composed by Terumasa Hino except Electric Zoo by Takeru Muraoka.

Count Buffalo & His Rock Band - African Rock Party

Under the name of Count Buffalo, hides the japanese drummer Akira Ishikawa who presented here a Jazz Rock album with severals covers songs. The music is based on classics of Soul from the sixties (SupremesYou Keep Me Hangin' On, Booker T. & The MGs' Soul Limbo), pop rock songs from The Beatles to The Doors  & jazz standards as The Sidewinder by trumpetist Lee Morgan or The Cat by Jimmy Smith. These versions are served by funky horns & psychedelic grooves with the soulful arrangement of Hiroshi Takami.

Junior Mance - With A Lotta Help From My Friends

Junior Mance worked with Gene Ammons  between 1947-1949, Lester Young, for Dinah Washington in 1954, played in the first Cannonball Adderley Quintet (1956 -1957), and touring with Dizzy Gillespie big band between 1958-1960. He plays with a young group but composed of talented musicians as Billy Cobham who was sideman for Miles Davis & played in Mahavishnu Orchestra. The album started with a great version of classic song of Sly & The Family Stone band, contains nice groove with good breakbeats, funky piano & raging drumming. Produced by Joel Dorn.

Nobuo Hara & His Sharps & Flats + 1 - Electronics

Crossover Jazz album by Sharps & Flats big band of  Nobuo Hara featuring special guest pianist, Takehiro Honda, which as the title suggests, introduces, for the first time, the Fender Rhodes and Hammond organ. Nobuo Hara enlisted the services of several musicians who contribute to this new Funk/Soul orientation : Masahiko Satoh, Yasuo Arakawa, Kiyoshi Yamaya & Yasuhiro Koyama, all in charge of arrangements.  Titles include some psychedelic grooves & Soul materials as in versions of Jethro Tull's Bourree, Come Together by The Beatles or Bobby Russell's Honey but also Rhythm&Blues with Horse Laugh Blues & Light Blues.

An essential rare groove from Blue Note mixing Hard Bop & Soul Jazz with a great combo.  A LP sampled many times such as One Cylinder by Hip-Hop artists as french rapper MC Solaar in Superstarr (1994) & Qui Sème Le Vent Récolte Le Tempo (1991) or Hard 2 Obtain in Joker's World (1994). This album contains three originals tracks by  Donaldson including  his Alligator Boogaloo' hit and a Lonnie Smith' contribution with Aw Shucks!. Recorded by Rudy Van Gelder.
