Masabumi Kikuchi - Poo-Sun

One of the finest Japan Jazz Fusion LP, recorded by familiar jazz pianist associated to keyboardist Hideo Ichikawa from Count Buffalo band. Kikuchi, better known with the nickname of Poo, started as professional in the late 50's, was influenced by Mc Coy Tyner , was sideman for Sadao Watanabe during the sixties, former member of the Terumasa Hino Quintet, worked alongside Toshiko Akiyoshi, renowned jazzmen as Elvin Jones, Gil Evans, Sonny Rollins, Miles Davis (on stage in Japan) and many more. As the Hino' Hi-Nology, Kikuchi adopted here the "Electric Miles" concept, surrounded by a great sextet-combo formed around Kohsuke Mine, Motohiko Hino & Yoshio Ikeda. Titles include the representative Kikuchi style Dancing Mist, tribute to Elvin Jones (E.J.), the jazz ballad Yellow Carcass In The Blue and the jazz rock Puzzle Ring, followed by the short piano piece, My Companion. All tracks composed and arranged by Masabumi Kikuchi excepted Puzzle Ring by Masahiro Kikuchi.

Takehiro Honda Trio - This Is Honda

Best Jazz recording award of the Swing Journal for the year 1972 in japan, the masterpiece recommended from the prolific pianist, Takehiro Honda, who released seven others albums between 1969 & 1972. It's the second album of Honda with the same formation featuring Mr. Bass Yoshio "Chin" Suzuki who played various times with Honda plus Fumio Watanabe (brother of Sadao) on drums. All are supported by famous japanese sound engineer, Okihiko Sugano who has also worked on several Sadao's recordings during the seventies. Titles include popular song You Don't Know What Love Is  from Keep 'Em Flying movie (1941), jazz standards as  Bye Bye Blackbird or the piano solo from Thelonius Monk's Round About Midnight. All tracks arranged by Takehiro Honda & recorded at Iino Hall, Tokyo, mixed by Okihiko Sugano.

The Eleventh House With Larry Coryell - Introducing The Eleventh House

Debut album studio of Larry Coryell & The Eleventh House formed in 1972, featuring, in particular, Randy Brecker and Alphonse Mouzon. Considered as one of the best active Jazz guitarist, Larry Coryell recorded here, one of most important pioneer album from the early Jazz Rock period, strongly influenced by Miles Davis' works and Herbie Hancock. This first recording is without a doubt their best production, including all necessary ingredients of Jazz Fusion style : trumpet distortion, wah wah effects and electric grooves associated to the incredible skills of Larry. The group split came in 1976, after Level One (1975) and Aspects (1976), plus one live At Montreux performed in 1974 but released in 1978. All tracks composed & arranged by Larry Coryell except The Funky Waltz & Right On Y'all by Alphonse Mouzon, Adam Smasher & Joy Ride by Mike Mandel, Yin by Wolfgang Dauner.

Odelay is the fifth studio album by american alternative rock artist, the versatile Beck Hansen. With Odelay, he operates a new musical twist by recruiting the american producer and DJs, the Dust Brothers. The result is a masterpiece of Beck' work often compared to Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique (1989) also produced by the Dust Brothers. Beck use many samples from Pretty Purdie, MC5, Lee Dorsey, Sly & The Family Stone or Rory Gallagher, all contributes to create a kind of musical patchwork. Titles includes eclectic styles as well as Soul (Hotwax), folk (Ramshake featuring Jazz bassist Charlie Haden), Punk (Minus) and even Hip Hop with High 5 (Rock The Catskills) but also the singles Devils Haircut, The New Pollution & Where It's At. The Procussions - We Are Here/Introducing... (What's Your Name?)

In the following of their jazz-flavoured Up All Night EP, especially released for Japan in 2004, here two japanese singles editions of unreleased songs & remix featuring former band member Qq, Shin-Ski & DJ Ryow from ShinSight Trio. Titles include some bonus tracks, previously gathering in their unofficial album Up All Night Enhanced Edition which are We Are Here, Divine Intervention (Remix) and the funky Introducing... (What's Your Name?), this latter being remixed by Shin-Ski (beats) & DJ Ryow (cuts), plus instrumentals & Water's Edge from ...As Iron Sharpens Iron LP. In 2007, Resonant left the group, M.J. Medeiros released his first album solo produced by Stro The 89th Key (Of Gods And Girls). The band split officially in 2008 but later, Stro & M.J. reform the band in duo in 2012. All tracks written are by The Procussions and produced by Stro The 89th Key.

The 4th volume in the twelve LUPIN THE THIRD [JAZZ] serie discs released between 1999 & 2008. As the title suggests, it's a Bossa Nova album with some jazzy grooves including the standards Lupin The Third' songs recorded in a brazilian register with portuguese lyrics and featuring Sonia Rosa. She's who had already collaborated on two Ohno' albums Spiced With Brazil (1974) & Space Kid (1978), lends his voice on four tracks, especially composed for the TV Special, Episode 0: First Contact, broadcasted the same year. To support them, special guest friends as Kiyoshi Sugimoto, Takashi Asahi, Yasushi Ichihara, Masabumi Yamaguchi or Tatsuji Yokoyama, the whole being surrounded by string orchestra the Yoichiro Kobayashi Group plus additionals musicians. Freddie Hubbard - First Light

The third CTI album of trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, can be seen as the final part of a jazz trilogy incorporating his two previous albums, Red Clay and Straight Life, both recorded in 1970. For this masterpiece, Freddie recruited the great Don Sebesky, in charge of the arrangements and conducting string orchestra. The band features also the Creed Taylor's studio rhythm section with George Benson, Ron Carter, Jack DeJohnette, Richard Wyands, Airto Moreira and  Hubert Laws is added. Titles include Pop Sounds and Straight Ahead jazz as the superb title track & Funk version of the Paul McCartney' classic Uncle Albert/Admiral Hasley from his Ram LP (1971).

From LUPIN THE THIRD [JAZZ] series, the third Ohno' album featuring his last band the Lupintic Five, who celebrate here the 30th anniversary of the Shin Lupin III second TV serie birth (1977-1980), ten years after the fisrt publication of the Monkey Punch' manga (1967). Mellow grooves & funky arrangements in a Straight Ahead Jazz orientation with titles which include Soul cover songs by Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder & Roberta Flack, jazz santards by trumpeter Neal Hefti and saxophonist Duke Pearson plus another funky version of the classic Lupin III openning, a variation of Angel Dance and one original song of Yuji, the Jazz Rock tune But Not Really. All tracks arranged & produced by Yuji Ohno.
